MARYLAND CANSTRUCTION®
Food Link, Inc. and Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) have partnered together for many years to bring to Maryland "Canstruction®," a spectacular, national community service project benefiting hunger relief efforts. Architecture students from AACC design and create structures made entirely of canned foods that, at the conclusion of the competition, are donated to Food Link of Anne Arundel County for distribution to local emergency food programs.
The AACC Architecture program is committed to engaging students in activities that will enhance learning and prepare students to transfer to a university or placement in the work force. "Canstruction®" is a unique opportunity for architecture students to have a hands-on experience in building something they've designed as students. The "Canstruction®" event is one of only a few in the country that is completely designed and built by students, and we are proud to have been recognized as an honorable mention in the 2005 national competition.
