THE SEASON OF GIVING

Please help us to partner with Food Link and make Christmas a reality for deserving kids in our community by bringing a check or cash with you (for any amount) to our December event.

The goal was to raise $5,000 for Food Link, and we've already raised $3,400 thanks to our friends at Frank Gumpert Printing, Dynasplint and an anonymous donor.

Note from Food Link Executive Director:
All of us at Food Link want to extend our sincere thanks for your incredible assistance this past holiday. In November, I was invited to the LinkAnnapolis event to introduce myself and Food Link to you. As a grassroots, community based nonprofit dedicated to being a safety net of neighbors helping neighbors, this seemed like a great fit! I spoke about the needs at the holidays especially for teenagers and asked if you would be kind enough to consider helping us provide Christmas for this group. Some traditional support systems will not help children over the age of 12 or under the age of 2 or 3 and the most difficult requests to fill are for families with children between the ages of 13 and 18.

Your response was overwhelming! As Jeff reported in the latest event notice, over $5,000 was raised. This allowed the elf team led by Tom and Jeannie O'Leary to purchase and fill almost 40 stockings! There were stockings of all shapes and colors, furry and fleece. All contained gloves, hats, scarves, perfume and cologne, gum and candy, hygiene items and gift cards! To say the families were thrilled is a vast understatement. The families you helped had no other means to provide for their teenaged children. None. Can you begin to imagine what it meant to both the parents and the teens to wake up to stuffed stocking on Christmas morning? It is a wonderous thing to touch a life and your collective generosity touched many. Perhaps the greatest gift you gave was hope - that things will get better, that there are wonderful people who care and will extend the unseen hand of friendship when it's most needed. Thank you for sharing your caring hearts and giving spirits with us. When we count our blessings, you will definitely be included.

Happy New Year LinkAnnapolis! May this be a year of good health, steadfast friends, sweet success and great happiness for you all!

Warmest Regards,
Cathy Holstrom
Executive Director
